SEQUOIA HIGH SIERRA CAMP PRESS RELEASES

Backcountry camping retreat in California's Giant Sequoia National Monument combines a wilderness setting with deluxe lodging and amenities

Sequoia National Forest, CA - The growing number of outdoor enthusiasts seeking a "glamping" adventure (a.k.a. "glamour camping" = a wilderness camp setting with deluxe comforts such as steaming hot showers, daily maid service, plush-top king beds, triple-sheeted linens and gourmet cuisine), are discovering California's newest backcountry tent hotel -- the Sequoia High Sierra Camp.

Located at 8,200 feet elevation in the secluded backcountry of Giant Sequoia National Monument in Central California's High Sierra, the wilderness retreat features several unique and guest-friendly aspects uncommonly found in a high sierra camping experience, such as:

  1. A total of 36 private tented cabins, individually reserved for each party
The spacious cabins, each measuring approximately 330 square feet, are furnished with plush-topped king or twin beds, down pillows and comforters, wool area rugs, a sitting area and oversized shuttered windows from which to enjoy the tranquil forest setting. A modern bathhouse, included segregated restrooms, private showers and changing areas is located within walking distance from all cabins.
  2. California-style gourmet cuisine, prepared by an onsite professional Executive Chef.
Three bountiful meals, emphasizing healthful, fresh and seasonal ingredients, are included in the daily rates. A full mountain breakfast, pack-your-own picnic lunch and gourmet 5-course dinner are served in the Etruscan-inspired alfresco Dining Pavilion. A compelling selection of imported wines and beer are also available.
  3. The option of drive-in access for the less adventurous outdoor enthusiast.
Guests can choose between driving their own vehicle to a trailhead, then hiking an easy, well-marked 1-mile trail to reach the Camp ~ or ~ hiking a moderately strenuous 12-mile route along the Twin Lakes trail (which takes an average of 9 hours, beginning at the Lodgepole Visitor Center in neighboring Sequoia National Park).
  4. User-friendly reservations system.
Guests can now check availability and make their own reservations directly online at www.sequoiahighsierracamp.com or by calling the toll-free hotline at 866-654- 2877. Overnight cabin reservations are booked on a first-call, first-served basis-not on a lottery basis as is common to other California high camps.

For recreation, guests can enjoy a multitude of scenic day hikes including a 3-mile jaunt to the top of popular Mitchell Peak, known for panoramic views of Kings River Canyon and the Monarch Divide. Excellent fly fishing also abounds in numerous creeks and mountain lakes.

The overnight rates at the Sequoia High Sierra Camp are $250 per person, including accommodations and three daily meals. One night stays are not recommended. Anticipated Camp dates of operation for the season are June 11 to September 16 (weather pending).
