RECREATION AND REJUVENATION AT SEQUOIA HIGH SIERRA CAMP

Start the day with freshly brewed coffee in hand, watching hummingbirds skip from one wildflower to the next. By noon, savor a deli-style sandwich atop 10,249-foot Mitchell Peak, celebrated for its spectacular views of Kings River Canyon and Monarch Divide. And, as the sun sets behind the Sierras, pack up the fly fishing lines and follow the scent of fresh grilled salmon that beckons from the camp's dining pavilion.

At Sequoia High Sierra Camp, guests enjoy abundant outdoor adventure as well as relaxing, restful leisure options. Set at an elevation of 8,282 feet, the Camp's natural surroundings provide magnificent vistas and convenient access to hiking trails, wildlife watching and outdoor recreation. Day Hiking - Mountains and Meadows

Picturesque hikes abound in the region around Sequoia High Sierra Camp, ranging from easy loops through nearby meadows to more intense scrambles up scenic mountainsides. Among favorites are Mitchell Peak, Mount Maddox and Lookout Peak, as well as Horse Corral Meadow. Guests can also explore nearby lakes and creeks, wander the Jennie Lakes Wilderness area or descend into Kings Canyon.

Fly Fishing

Surrounded by creeks and mountain lakes, the Camp offers easy access to top fishing stops like Seville Lake, Lost Lake, Boulder Creek and Rowell Creek. Brook, rainbow and golden trout are among common catches. Guests can bring their own equipment, or borrow from limited supplies on site. A California State Fishing License is required for all anglers 16 years and older.

Wildlife Watching

Binoculars are recommended at Sequoia High Sierra Camp, as each day presents an opportunity to peek at playful animals and soaring songbirds. View nature in action and marvel at marmots, chipmunks, deer, and assorted birds. Black bears are also common in the region.

Majestic sequoias framed by brilliant blue skies. Sparking streams bubbling over rocky creek beds. Serene deer and songbirds outside the bungalow window. Stunning Sequoia Groves (Within Driving Distance)

Seven giant sequoia groves are within a 30-minute scenic drive of the Camp, inviting exploration and discovery. The largest living thing on Earth, a single sequoia can live up to 3,200 years, weigh some 2.7 million pounds and have a base as wide as 40 feet in diameter. Three extraordinary sequoia stands, Deer Meadow Grove, Agnew Grove and Monarch Grove, can be accessed from the Horse Corral Meadow just 3.5 miles from the Camp.

Daily routines at the Camp are governed only by long, sunny days and crisp, cool evenings. For guests who prefer rest and renewal to adventure and action, the peaceful surroundings are ideal for reading, writing or simply taking an afternoon siesta in the shade.
