RETREATS AT SEQUOIA HIGH SIERRA CAMP

A luxury backcountry tent hotel ~ ideal for corporate retreats, team building events, incentive programs and strategy planning sessions.

Seeking a new and totally unique venue to add spice for your next small group function? Consider Sequoia High Sierra Camp ~ a secluded mountain retreat in California's spectacular Giant Sequoia National Forest.

Offering 32 luxury cabins which accommodate two people each, the Camp is larger than most wilderness retreats, and perfect for small groups. Everything is provided, from linens to meals - leaving your attendees to concentrate on your agenda - or just enjoying the inspiring scenic setting and recreational activities.

Opened in August 2006, Sequoia High Sierra Camp welcomes guests in 36 canvas bungalows complete with deluxe amenities and panoramic vistas of Kings Canyon. Set amidst Red Fir and Lodgepole Pines at 8,282 feet, the Camp is located in Giant Sequoia National Monument, on Sequoia National Forest land between Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. The camp is privately owned and operated.

Comfort and tranquility are central to accommodations at Sequoia High Sierra Camp, from plush-top beds with feather pillows and Pendleton wool blankets, to outdoor sitting areas with deck chairs and spectacular views. The spacious bungalows, each about 330 square feet (14' x 24'), feature canvas walls and roof, concrete floors, metal doors and screened windows. In true resort style, daily maid service is included among camp amenities.

Drawing both serious hikers and less adventurous outdoor enthusiasts, the luxury outpost offers unique drive-in access as well as a more rigorous hike-in option. Guests can park at a trailhead for an easy 1-mile trek into the Camp, or hike to the grounds along a challenging 12-mile backcountry trail. With bedding and personal toiletries (shampoo, soap, lotion) provided, and dining, restroom and private shower facilities situated among the cabins, guests need only carry in the basics. Moreover, they enjoy the nature's best without sacrificing hot showers, soft linens or other comforts of home.

Sequoia High Sierra Camp also spoils guests with three delectable daily meals included in overnight rates and served in the al fresco dining pavilion. Fresh herbs and olive oil flavor the first-class Mediterranean cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Ryan Solien, who seasoned his skills in kitchens across the United States, Bermuda and Rome. Once a touring personal chef for notable music celebrities, Solien creates hearty and healthy breakfast fare and on-the-go lunches daily. Each night's dinner delights, as menu options range from Alaskan halibut with chevre and mint risotto to prime veal with goat cheese gnocchi to muscovy duck breast with wild mushroom polenta - followed by sweet treats like mountain berry crumble or chocolate molten cake.

Just steps from the Camp's dining area and bungalows awaits a world of outdoor adventure. Seven giant sequoia groves are within a round-trip day hike of the grounds, and additional hikes traverse the region's meadows and mountainsides. Anglers can cast a fly-fishing line in nearby lakes and creeks, and wildlife enthusiasts are likely to spot black bears, deer and assorted songbirds. From wildflower walks to photography to simply taking an afternoon siesta in the shade, options for rejuvenation also abound.
